HAMPDEN PARK HISTORY
The first public park in Eastbourne was Hampden Park, originally owned by Lord Willingdon and opened on 12 August 1902. Facilities include: football pitches, rugby club, indoor bowls, a large lake (formerly a Decoy pond, lakeside cafe, children's recreation area, tennis courts, BMX and skate facility and woodland.
THE CLUB HISTORY
Hampden Park Bowling Club was founded in 1912; the Hampden Park Ladies Bowling Club was founded in 1928. Both clubs became The Hampden Park Bowling Association in 1988 when control of the clubhouse and greens was handed to the Association by the local authority. Since then the Association has made many improvements to the clubs playing and social facilities.
